FEAST (For Education and Social Transformation) is a charity based near Nagercoil in the very south of India. It was founded in 1998 to support the poor children of the mainly Christian fishing families in the Kanyakumari district – an area that was later greatly affected by the Tsunami. This support has been extended to serve the poor, irrespective of caste or religion and now includes Hindus, Christians and Moslems.
FEAST is special because 99% of money raised goes to the people who really need it and is not spent on administrating or fundraising for the charity.
In the battle with both economic poverty and the structural poverty of the caste system, the greatest weapon is education. FEAST runs a sponsorship program to make this possible.
