COME AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE
FEAST India is a project supported by St Nicholas Arundel PCC; registered charity number 1134404.
The project was started in 1998 by a prayer group in Germany who wanted to take action and help the work of India priest, Fr Jeremias. The sponsorship scheme began and over the years has grown into the FEAST project that we see today; run by Fr Jeremias and supported by groups in Germany, Italy, USA and the UK.
In the UK, we have a committed team of volunteers, who work hard to attract new sponsors and raise funds for this unique project.
Lead by Jayne Scrimgeour and Treasurer, Ian Graham, the team operates on a no expenses, self-financing basis.
In recent years, FEAST UK has attracted the backing of 3 local primary schools; each school supporting the project in its own unique way.
A group from the UK visit the project every year to meet sponsor children and to see the work that is being carried out by FEAST. They spend time looking at the various developments which have been funded in the UK and look for other ways in which to further offer support.
The main aims of FEAST UK are centred around attracting new sponsors for both children and the elderly and fundraising to support the wonderful work that this project is doing.
Many events take place throughout the year generating vital funds; for example in 2019 the FEASTathon, a get fit with FEAST initiative, was organised. 30 committed supporters from across the country attracted sponsorship to walk, run, swim or cycle 5253 miles – the distance between the UK and the charity in India. The £18k raised has been used to build 5 houses and 20 toilets for some of the poorest families in southern India.
In recent years the outreach in the community has involved working with local primary schools. Each school has organised support for FEAST in its own way. Arundel Church of England School has appointed 4 FEAST Ambassadors whose job it is to organise fundraising ideas within the school. St Philip’s Catholic Primary School take a whole school approach and have worked hard to build 2 houses in Tamil Nadu. This on-going support is of great benefit not only to the project, but also to the pupils themselves as they learn first-hand about helping the poor.
FEAST is a remarkable project that relies on people who want to make a difference. Please join us in helping to change the lives of those most in need.
